Mayor Jeff Lehman Speaks about Vimy Ridge Experience
Last April, Mayor Jeff Lehman and honorary colonel Jamie Massie attended the 100th anniversary ceremonies at Vimy Ridge in France. It is now 100 years since this decisive battle in Wold War I fought on April 9 to 12th in 1917. It is said by some historians that it was at the Battle of Vimy Ridge that Canada was forged as a nation.
Mayor Lehman was quite impacted by being at Vimy Ridge for these historic ceremonies. There is also a special connection between Vimy Ridge and the City of Barrie. Jeff Lehman will be speaking about this experience on Sunday November 12th at 10:30 am at Celebration Church in Barrie located at 460 Yonge Street (part of the Inniswood campus). Special music by Peter Johnstone-Schulz playing the bagpipes. This is one of a series of events being held in Barrie for Remembrance Day weekend. This year it is particularly significant as we mark the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge, the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele and as we celebrate 150 years since Confederation.
