Rowers from three of Barrie's high schools competed at the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association's Championship regatta this weekend in St. Catharine's, ON. Six crew's from St. Joseph's, one from St. Peter's and one from St. Joan of Arc competed in the 71st annual event, considered one of the premier high school rowing events in the world. Despite the short time on the water for the Barrie crews, they were very competitive with crews from all across Canada and the United States. The St. Joe's Senior Lightweight Four of Dario Zecca, Josh Spicker, Jonah Gallant, Michael Gallant and cox Carson Visser raced to a 6th place finish in their event while establishing a new best time for the crew. Coaches Jordan Chew, Kelsey Smith and head coach Leah Penny did an outstanding job preparing the boys for their success. These crews and many more hit the waters of Kempenfelt Bay this Sunday for the Barrie High School Invitational Regatta.
