Barrie peewee squad wins Canadian Tire Classic

The Barrie Colts minor peewee AE team captured the gold at the local Canadian Tire Classic on the weekend. The team includes Caleb Tiffin-Seminara, Luke Shipley, Mikey Diveto, Justin Miller, Chase Mertineit, Austin Johnston, Colton Shultz, Jacob Tunnicliff, Nathan Stapley, Thomas King, Logan Tucker, Nathan McNabb, Jake Fowler, Regan Korczynski and Connor Lefave as well as goalies Jack Giroux and Daniel Campbell. The team staff includes coach Doug Shipley, assistant coaches Howie Campbell and Nick Stapley, trainer Steve Bennet and manager Morgan Miller. SUBMITTED

The Barrie Colts minor peewee AE team captured the gold at the local Canadian Tire Classic on the weekend.

Following a tough 1-0 loss to the Centre Wellington Fusion to open the tournament, the boys never looked back as they went on to finish first in round-robin play.

The Colts were then up against the speed and power of the Cambridge Hawks in the semifinals and came away with a 5-3 win.

That victory set up a rematch against Centre Wellington in the final.

Determination, hard work and perseverance over-powered and led Barrie to a 3-1 and the tournament title.

When all was said and done in the tournament, Barrie scored 26 goals and allowed five goals against with three shutouts.
