NEW TECUMSETH – A licensed marijuana growing operation near Beeton which police say had significantly exceeded its limit was raided by OPP Tuesday, leading to drug production charges against four people.

Nottawasaga OPP, along with the drug enforcement unit, used a search warrant for the rural property's residence, as well as its outbuildings, on the 8th Line.

Police seized approximately 500 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $500,000, OPP said.

Two Markham residents, age 59 and 49, a 39-year-old Scarborough resident and a Toronto resident, age 41, were arrested, charged with drug production and later released with a promise to appear at a court date.
