Local lawyer spearheading bike safety campaign in Simcoe County
(SUBMITTED) - A local lawyer is doing his part to keep to promote bike safety.
Steve Rastin, managing partner of Rastin and Associates and Past President of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, has joined forces with assocation partners to once again donate helmets to 550 kids in Simcoe County who need one.
In a recent five-year study, the Ontario Ministry of Health reported that 93.75% of cyclists under the age of 18 who were killed in cycling accidents were not wearing helmets.
“There is absolutely no reason for our children to be put at risk while riding bicycles in our communities. Helmets save lives and we are proud and pleased to do our part to help educate and protect students in the Simcoe County area," Rastin said.
Rastin, along with members of his law firm, will join representatives from the Barrie Police Service and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at Trillium Woods Elementary School in Barrie on Tuesday, May 10, morning to kick off this campaign. Later, the group will be at St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School to host bike safety demonstrations and information sessions and present the helmets to students.
