The annual Take Back the Night event brought out a crowd in Barrie Thursday night.

Hosted by Athena's Sexual Assault Counselling & Advocacy Centre, the rally is part of a global protest calling on communities to recognize women's rights to live without fear of violence.

The event, which began with guest speakers at City Hall, took participants through downtown streets. The march was lead by activist, performer and musician, Faith Nolan.
