Formula North, Canada's first and only 'Formula Student' automotive engineering design competition, is being held at the Barrie Molson Centre until Sunday.

The fourth-annual competition includes more than two dozen post-secondary, student-run teams that have designed and built single-seat, open-wheeled Formula-style vehicles to compete in various static and dynamic events.

Following a complete evaluation, they are meticulously timed, measured and judged by industry professionals.

Aspects of the competition include engineering design, cost, marketing, endurance, acceleration, skid pad, autocross and fuel economy.
