Barrie police and OPP seize $70,000 worth of heroin in drug bust 0

Two people face several charges following a heroin bust Friday night in Barrie.

Working in co-operation with the OPP Central Drug Unit, members of the Barrie Police Service Street Crime Drug Unit arrested a 37-year-old man and 47-year-old woman shortly after 7 p.m. at a Wellington Street address and seized a quantity of heroin with a street value of about $70,000.

Police say the investigation originated in the U.S. through the Department of Homeland Security.

The pair faces charges of importing heroin, possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin and possession of heroin.

Police say the investigation continues.
