Environment Canada has cancelled the special weather alert for Barrie after about 10 centimetres of heavy wet snow fell over night, cancelling school buses in Simcoe County and closing a few schools.

Also, a snowfall warning has now been lifted for Angus, Innisfil and New Tecumseth where another five centimetres of wet snow was expected to fall today as the low pressure system from Lake Erie moves east.

Ottawa is expected to get walloped with around 15 centimetres of the cold stuff.

Environment Canada says 14 cm of snow has now fallen in the Barrie area.
