A man faces two charges after his mother was assaulted and her home damaged early Tuesday morning in Barrie.

City police received several calls about a family disturbance on Leacock Drive just before 1:20 a.m.

Officers found damage to the interior of a residence and a woman who had been assaulted.

Her 34-year-old son was arrested and charged with assault and mischief.

The man was taken to Barrie's police station and later released with a March court date.
