Colts name new assistant coaches
The Barrie Colts officially re-filled their coaching stable on Monday, announcing that David Bell and Brad Brown have joined the team as assistant coaches.
Bell joins the team after one season as an assistant with the Springfield Falcons, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. Prior to that, the Wiarton native spent three seasons as an assistant with the Owen Sound Attack.
Bell is a former OHL defenceman, having spent four seasons with the Ottawa 67's.
Brown will make his first foray into the coaching ranks after wrapping up a lengthy pro career last year.
The native of Ming's Bight, Nfld., is a former first-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens and also played for the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres, as well as with various other pro-level teams, including the Toronto Marlies.
Both coaches will work under head coach Marty Williamson.
The team opens training camp on Tuesday, with the annual Blue-White game taking place on Thursday at the Barrie Molson Centre at 7 p.m.
