Pentathlon Returns to Barrie May 7th
In what other sport can you pretend to be a cavalry soldier - making your way back to your comrades after dueling with swords, swimming across the river, riding an unfamiliar horse, and wielding a pistol as you run on foot across the countryside? The sport of Modern Pentathlon has been included in the Olympic Games since 1912, and local sports enthusiasts can give it a try on Saturday, May 7th. Centaurus Pony Club is again partnering with Pentathlon Ontario to offer what has become an annual swim/shoot/run event. The exhibition mini-meet is aimed at youth participants, but adults are welcome and there is an inter-generational relay to make it fun for the whole family. Beginners are welcome and equipment and orientation are included. For more information and to register by April 28th, please contact Hellaina Rothenburg at 705-739-1450. Pictured are Jay and Jackson Rothenburg, who competed in the inter-generational relay at the Guelph Mini-Meet, April 9.
