GRIZZLIES WIN NAIL-BITER
J. P. Amaral hit a free throw with .6 seconds remaining in the game to give the Georgian Grizzlies a 78-77 win over the visiting Cambrian Golden Shield on Wednesday night.
The Grizzlies trailed 74-67 before back-to-back three-pointers by Ben Dance pulled them to within one. Two free throws by Amaral put Georgian ahead at 75-74 for the first time in the game, but a three-point play by Cambrian's Dylan McKenzie gave Cambrian the lead back at 77-75.
Georgian scored to tie the game at 77-77 and then forced a Cambrian turnover to get the ball back with 4.7 seconds. The Grizzlies got the ball to Amaral, who was fouled driving to the basket with 0.6 seconds left on the clock, setting the stage for the dramatic finish. Amaral went one-for-two from the line giving Georgian its second win in a row.
Cambrian led 42-36 at the half.
Amaral led all scorers with 20 points, while Dance scored 17 points including the two big three pointers to bring the Grizzlies back. Cambrian's O'Neal Graham had 18 points in his return to Barrie.
Georgian's record now stands at 3-6. The team hosts Loyalist on Saturday at 8 p. m. to end the first semester of play.

KNIGHT HAS DIABETES
(SUN MEDIA) -- Jared Knight scored the overtime winner last Friday against Erie.
On Sunday in Oshawa, he was on the ice right until the end.
But something was wrong. London Knights teammate Leigh
Salters saw it.
"I noticed he was coming to the
back of the bus a lot for washroom breaks," the 20-year-old Salters said. "I was watching him. He looked sluggish. He was showing the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed at six years old."
Salters has dealt with Type 1 diabetes for the last 14 years.
He handed Knight his blood monitor.
It tested high.
London athletic therapist Andy Scott arranged blood tests with team doctor Dieter Bruckschwaiger.
Knight, too, has Type 1 diabetes. He sat out Tuesday in Kitchener.
He won't play this weekend. "It was shocking," the 17-year-old
from Battle Creek, Mich., said. "I had felt sluggish the past few weeks. I wasn't sleeping real well. I had to get up a lot in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
"I didn't know what it was. But Leigh gave me his blood monitor to use. He was the one who figured it out."
Knight hates that he can't play right now. He's in his NHL draft year and he doesn't want to miss any games.
He has a lot to prove.
"I have to get my shot and watch my diet right now," he said. "This is a minor speed bump. It's not a careerender. My goal is to play in the NHL and a lot of guys have got through this and made it."
