No wonder voters are apathetic

Re: City pushing for cash to fund bigger Barrie, Funding request to province has gone unanswered, in the Nov. 21 edition of the Examiner)

Let me get this straight.

After fighting hard to grab some of Innisfil’s land, the City of Barrie now tells us it doesn’t have the money to pay to service that land!

Should we really be surprised?

This is the same city council that increased our taxes in the middle of the harshest recession in decades; this council spent $10,000 of our money on a whistle study (huh?), then ignored the study's recommendations.

One councillor has a cell phone bill of over $9,000 that he expects taxpayers to pay for (has he not heard of a cell phone plan?).

Two members of council have been the focus of police investigations while in office, but ignored requests to stand aside and kept collecting their paycheques from the public purse.

I guess nothing surprises me anymore.

I have one question for Barrie councillors: do you have any idea how to manage our money?

No wonder the voters are apathetic.
