FIVE CHARGED IN BUST
Five people face drug charges after police raided a Barrie home on Thursday.
City police drug enforcement unit members were investigating crack cocaine dealing at a Dunlop Street residence, and saw several people believed to be making purchases.
A search warrant was obtained and police found and seized crack cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and scales.
Five occupants of the house were arrested and charged with a variety of drug offences. They have December court dates.
Police say the street value of the drugs was $1,000.
POT PLANTS SEIZED
BRADFORD -About 1,100 marijuana plants, with a street value of $1.1 million, were seized from a home here Thursday during a police raid.
South Simcoe police used a search warrant to enter the premises. A 30-year-old Scarborough man and a Markham woman, age 32, are charged with drug possession, drug production, drug trafficking and stealing hydro.
Both were released with a future court date.
MAN NOT WELCOME
INNISFIL -- An unwanted man at a home here Thursday led South Simcoe police to lay three charges.
Officers spoke to a woman who had called police and they arrested a 37-year-old Innisfil man.
He is charged with two counts of threatening and one charge of mischief under $5,000.
STREET SLEEPER ARRESTED
A woman lying down on Barrie's Bradford Street Thursday evening brought city police officers in a hurry.
Police found a 42-year-old woman at about 7 p. m. who was extremely intoxicated. She was taken into custody until she sobered up. She was later issued a ticket for being intoxicated in public.
MISSING MAN HOME
A local man missing one day was found safe the next day.
Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP began looking for Jason Logan on Thursday. He was found safe at his residence yesterday morning.
DIGGING IN
The second phase of major construction improvements to Highway 26, from Wasaga Beach to Collingwood, will begin next year.
They include four new lanes, bridges and intersections.
This project is the second phase of improvements already made in the area, including construction of the Batteaux River and Fairground Road bridges.
About 17,500 vehicles travel Highway 26 between Collingwood and Wasaga Beach daily. That number increases to 20,900 vehicles during the summer.
LIGHTS OUT FOR TRUCKER
A trucker faces a careless driving charge after a crash yesterday morning on Barrie's Mapleview Drive. City police say a truck loaded with computer equipment exiting Highway 400, in the northbound lanes at Mapleview, slid sideways and hit a light standard.
No one was injured in the crash, but area roads were closed for more than an hour.
DRUNK DROPS PANTS
A drunk man was spotted with his pants down across from a south- Barrie high school yesterday.
He was followed into a store, and arrested by city police. The man was held in custody until he sobered up.
TOOLS TAKEN
SPRINGWATER TWP. -- A long list of equipment was stolen from a garage here Wednesday, between 2:30 and 4 p. m.
Huronia West OPP say the garage is located at a residence on Flos Rd. 10 East. Stolen was a Generack 6000 generator with an electric start, three Stihl chain saws, a Pouland chain saw, a Lincoln 180C welder, several Milwaukee battery-powered drills and tools, and a Dewalt radio.
