The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit received an "unexpected" delivery of 10,000 H1N1 vaccines, yesterday, but Remembrance Day clinics have been cancelled

That brings the total number of vaccines on hand to about 23,000, but local medical officer of health Dr. Charles Gardner said an additional 3 8 ,0 0 0 doses are expected "within the week."

Wi t h o u t the new doses, most of what had

been in supply would've been consumed.

"With the 10,000 (new vaccines), we're in better position than we thought we would be," Gardner said.

"I think we've done a good job of putting vaccines out to the community, and providing it directly ourselves to those at highest risk. We've reached about two-thirds."

No announcements have been made for when the general public could be vaccinated.

"There may be something coming very soon on that," Gardner said.
