It's OK to love your job

I had cut out Nicki Cruickshank's column a couple of weeks ago on how some people love their work.
After moving to Barrie six years ago, I was very unsatisfied having worked in the banking industry for 20 years. I decided to make a change.
I have always had pets in my life and had a strong interest in keeping up with the care of them.
Having moved from Toronto, I knew that many dogs spend the day all alone and owners worry about them.
I also knew that the pet industry is one of the up-and-coming businesses to be in at this time.
I set up a dog-walking and cat-sitting service, and from that moment I have not looked back. Every day, I get the reward of being met at the door with wagging tails and great excitement about our upcoming walk.
Some days I may be tired or not feeling well, but that seems to disappear whenever I open their doors.
I am very lucky to now have a large client base, lots of whom have become friends.
The down side is that I become very attached to the owners' beloved pets, and when these pets pass due to illness, it is a great loss for me, too.
Then again, there are the new puppies and kittens here to meet and get to know.
I am still amazed at the amount of people who don't know about the many services there are available for their pets.
As was said, it's a rarity to hear of someone enjoying their job, but I guess I am one of the lucky ones.
