Barrie Charon Clute State Farm Insurance minor atom 'AA' Colts

The Barrie Charon Clute State Farm Insurance minor atom 'AA' Colts made it three straight wins by doubling up the Richmond Hill Stars, 4-2.

Barrie came into the Richmond Hill game plenty motivated after pounding the Georgina Blaze, 8-2, and the Markham Waxers, 5-3.

Down 2-0 to the Stars, the Colts hunkered down and dug deep. Devon Leduc kicked off the rally in impressive fashion, recording a natural hat trick to put Barrie ahead by a goal.

McCauley Carson added a single to cap off the comeback. Goaltender Luke Richardson handled a barrage of shots but was impenetrable in the later part of the game. The defence, led by Ben Kuepfer, stood strong, blocking shots and players to keep the Stars under control.

Barrie atom 'C' Sharks

The Barrie atom 'C' Sharks defeated the Belleville Bearcats, 6-0, at home on Saturday.

Dana Sheridan earned her first shutout of the season. Sharks goal scorers were Kaitlyn Shipley, with a pair, Madeline Amon, Jessica Mclean, Emma Ridout and Shona Boyd.

Barrie Restored Sports minor peewee 'AA' Colts

The Barrie Restored Sports minor peewee 'AA' Colts trounced the Markham Waxers, 6-2, at Eastview Arena on Monday.

Leading the scoring for the Colts was Bradley Kuepfer with a hat trick, two of them assisted by Ryan McReynolds, with other assists on the Kuepfer markers going to Cole Gilliland and Sam Cooney.

Luke Shaule scored the third goal for Barrie, assisted by Michael Bowers and Andrew Bravener. Bain Cunningham scored the last two goals for the Colts, with assists going to Christopher Scalzitti, Shaule and James Burns.

The win came on the heels of a tough 2-1 loss to the Newmarket Redmen on Saturday in Barrie.

The game was a 0-0 stalemate until six minutes into the third period, and then was knotted at 1-1 before the Redmen scored the winning goal with just 52 seconds left in the game to squeak out the win.

Braeden Bedford was spectacular in goal for the Colts. Barrie's lone goal came from a nifty backhand pass by Remington Hill from behind the net to Burns who banged it in.

The Colts did an effective job at keeping a high-scoring Redmen club, which averages five goals a game, in check, led in part by great backchecking by Barrie forwards Cole Gilliland and Bowers.

Barrie Georgian International minor bantam 'A' Colts

The Barrie Georgian International minor bantam 'A' Colts beat Bradford, 6-3, recently.

Scott Bremner, Cole Cicccone, Jamie Halnan, Mat Seeley, Cameron Russell and Brendan Riddall scored for the Colts.

Assists went to Eric Sirola, with a pair, Scott Bonney, Mat Seeley, Adam Zussino, Jamie Halnan, Marcel Beaudoin and Scott Gardener.

Barrie novice 'AAA' Colts

The Barrie 'novice AAA' Colts swept the season series against the Oshawa Generals with an 8-3 pounding on Sunday evening at the Holly Recre-

Having taken the road game a couple weeks ago, the Colts jumped out in front 1-0 after the first and then grabbed control of the contest with three more goals in the second to take a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.

Barrie iced the win with four more goals in the final frame. The Colts take to the ice tonight when they play host to the South Central Coyotes at the East Bayfield Community Centre.

North Central Ontario major atom 'AAA' Predators

The North Central Ontario major atom 'AAA' Predators beat the Oshawa Generals 5-1.

Jacob Gabourie and Kenny Mcisaac led the Predators attack with a pair of goals each, with a single marker byJames Pomeroy.

Assists went to Joey Tascona, Patrick Brunet, Zane Morris and Tyler Kalbe.

Kayle Campbell earned the victory between the pipes.

Barrie Applebee's peewee alternate entry Colts

The Barrie Applebee's peewee alternate entry Colts put in a solid effort at a tournament in Orillia this past weekend.

The Colts battled Ajax to a scoreless draw in their opening game, before breaking out for a 6-1 victory over Clarington later in the day.

Dustin Bortoluzzi got Barrie off on the right foot with a pair of first-period goals, with helpers going to Hugh McLaren, Andrew Newton and Justin Formenton.

Cody Tibbits, Newton, Connor Gillanders and McLaren also scored for the Colts.

Other assists went to Sam Sweazey, Grant Costello, Dylan Kelly, Trevor O'Connor, McLaren, Newton and Bortoluzzi with a pair.

Barrie was eliminated from the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Oakville.

Brayden Longstaffe, with an assist from Formenton, had the lone goal for the Colts.

Barrie Georgian Pontiac bantam alternate entry Colts

The Barrie Georgian Pontiac bantam alternate entry Colts came away with three points in a home-and-home series against the Richmond Hill Kings this past weekend.

Barrie traveled to Richmond Hill on Saturday night and battled to a 3-3 draw.

Jason Binnie led the way with a pair of goals, with the other marker going to Stevie Welsh.

Brett Scott led the assist parade with a pair, while singles went to Andrew Mc- Fadden, Wyatt Chesson and Welsh. Graydon Tibbits was particulary busy in goal as the Colts found themselves in penalty trouble throughout the contest.

Barrie put it all together on home ice Sunday, posting a 7-0 blowout in the return game.

Daniel Rocha earned the shutout. Mitch Delisle led the way with pair of goals and an assist. Dalton Koopmans, McFadden, Welsh, Quinton James and Binnie also found the back of the net for Barrie.

Connor Chapman had a pair of assists, with single helpers from Josh Bailey, Adam Steeves, McFadden and Chesson.

Barrie Auto Sense peewee 'AA' Colts

The Barrie Auto Sense peewee 'AA' Colts competed in the Hockey Town Productions tournament in Detroit over the weekend.

They dropped the first game to Westland, 4-2, after getting off to a slow start. The Colts battled back from a 3-0 deficit with goals by Neil Bond and Devon Gillham.

Austin Fischer and Ben Skuce assisted, but it wasn't quite enough as Westland sealed the victory with an empty net goal.

Barrie battled Leaside to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Bobby Logan got the lone marker for the Colts with assists to Liam Spurgeon and Skuce. Ian Andriano was solid in net stopping 14 shots.

In the final game of the round-robin Barrie dominated, 5-0.

Barrie defencemen contribute offensively, as Ryan Lewis scored a pair of goals from the point and Dakota Hynes and Decker Holliday added assists.

Logan added a pretty goal, skating end to end. Ben Hughes and Ryan Shaw also found the back of the net. Spurgeon, Skuce, Clinton Lindgren and Cameron Lintner also added assists. Andriano had the shutout.

In league action, the Auto Sense Colts beat Georgina, 2-1, before heading to the States.

Logan scored shorthanded after being set up by Lindgren. Georgina tied the game 1-1 on the power play. The game looked to end in a tie until the final minute of the third period when Gillham made no mistake on a one-timer in front of the net. Lindgren got his second assist of the game.

WRESTLING

Kempenfelt Bay Athletic Club Members of the Kempenfelt Bay Athletic Club held their own at the Sudbury Early Bird Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, at Macdonald Cartier Secondary School in Sudbury.

The event attracted more than 200 athletes from across Central and Northern Ontario.

The following Barrie wrestlers had great results within their competition group and weight divisions:

First Place:Amelia Martin (Barrie Central) 76 kg, Tyler Rowe 51 kg, Jordan Atkinson (Barrie Central) 95 kg, Stephanie Tonn (Barrie North) 61kg.

Second Place:Jessica Broulette 54 kg, Jessie Twigg (Barrie Central) 89 kg.

Third Place:Nick Gardinere (Barrie Central) 89 kg, Brupindar Cheema (Innisdale) 57.5 kg, Connor Gilbert (Barrie Central) 72 kg.

Jerrod Vautour, C. J. Hudson, Matt Harlow, and Chantelle Ree also competed well at this tournament.

These wrestlers, along with many other Barrie athletes, continue practising, as they prepare for this Saturday's Barrie Open Wrestling Tournament at Bear Creek Secondary School.
