The Georgian Grizzlies have announced that St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School's Hannah Sweet will be joining the women's basketball program next season.

The local forward is now playing for the Barrie Royals junior under-18 team and will be entering the business administration program at Georgian this fall.

“I’m super excited,” Sweet said. “I’ve heard amazing things about the business administration program here at Georgian.”

Making a decision on a post-secondary institution can be challenging, but Sweet said the choice became clear for her.

“I was conflicted between a couple different schools, but weighing out the pros and cons, I thought Georgian was the best fit for me,” she said. “With the business program and being able to play on the basketball team, I just think it will make for a great college experience.”

Grizzlies head coach Andrew Broeren said he couldn’t be happier with his new recruit.

“Hannah will make an excellent addition to our team,” he said. “We already see her dedication to training as she gets ready for her first season.

“She is a big add to our already strong recruiting class,” Broeren added.

The Georgian Grizzlies 2017-18 women’s basketball season will begin in October with tryout dates being announced in the coming weeks.
