Wanted: students to tutor
University or college students can tutor public school students in 2017.
STAFF - Helping teachers teach English and math in public schools could add up for university or college students.
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is offering students currently enrolled in an Ontario college or university prgram the opportunity to work in an elementary school as a tutor next spring.
With a focus on literacy and numeracy, applicants must be returning to full or part-time studies in the fall.
Interviews and training sessions for potential tutors will be conducted at the education centre on 1170 Highway 26 in Midhurst on Feb. 21, 23 and 28 between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The process includes professional studies for candidates in numeracy.
A limited number of spaces are available and principals will only select from those who have successfully completed recruitment criteria.
Tutors will be asked to work up to a maximum of 75 paid hours by May 19, 2017.
Students interested in becoming a tutor may pre-register for one of the evening sessions listed above by emailing Pauline Cook at firstname.lastname@example.org.
