Transport, pickup collide

ORO-MEDONTE TWP. - Two toddlers were taken to hospital after a collision between a a transport truck and a pickup Monday morning, one with a mild concussion.

Barrie OPP say the transport, northbound on Line 7, struck an eastbound Ford pickup truck at Old Barrie Road at 10:20 a.m.

Simcoe County paramedics took the toddlers, age two and three, to hospital as a precaution.

The two-year-old's head struck the window due to the child not being properly secured, police said. A 31-year-old woman was issued two provincial offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to secure a child in a vehicle.

The transport's driver, a 58-year-old Brampton man, was charged for failing to yield to traffic on a through highway, again contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
