Oro-Medonte man facing charges
ORO-MEDONTE TWP. - A local man faces impaired driving charges after a red pickup truck was stopped for speeding on Line 5 Monday night.
Just after 9 p.m., Barrie OPP on speed patrol clocked a Chevy pickup at 123 kilometres an hour heading south on Line 5 in an 80 km/h zone.
Police stopped the truck and an officer smelled alcohol on the driver's breath.
A 21-year-old Oro-Medonte man was arrested and charged with impaired driving.
After providing breath samples he was charged with having more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system while driving.
His truck was impounded for a week, his driver's licence is suspended for 90 days and he has a Barrie court date scheduled.
He was not charged with speeding as that goes to evidence with the impaired driving charge.
