 Gisele Winton Sarvis

Drivers of a black SUV and a delivery truck were taken by ambulance to hospital after a head-on collision Monday at about 5 p.m. on Hwy. 26 east of Sunnidale Corners. The black SUV headed west had crossed the centre line and hit the eastbound delivery truck as both vehicles collided in the east-bound lane. Hwy. 26 was closed in both directions as OPP investigated the collision with aid by Clearview Fire Department. Police on scene couldn't say if the accident was due in part to a severe thunderstorm that rolled off Georgian Bay late Monday afternoon causing power outages from Thornbury, through Collingwood, Stayner and north to hospital. The driver of the SUV,r a 24 year old man from Barrie received serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Hospital and later airlifted to a Toronto Hospital. The delivery truck driver a 38 year old male from Barrie was transported to Hospital with minor injuries. The investigation into this collision is ongoing with the assistance of Central Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Unit.
