Barrie man faces 5 charges

A Barrie man faces weapon, forcible confinement and threatening charges after he went looking for money owed at two city residences this week.

Police were called to a Bayfield Street apartment just after 4 p.m. Thursday to handle a home invasion.

Officers determined a female opened the door and a man with a knife pushed his way inside. He was looking for someone who wasn't there, so after a few minutes of arguing with the female he left.

This incident stemmed from an altercation between two males at a Tunbridge Drive address Wednesday.

Police believe both incidents concern money one man owes to the other, for a service or product neither would disclose to police.

A 19-year-old man is charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and two counts of breaching his release conditions on another charge.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 705-725-7025, ext. 2901, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit tipsubmit.com.
