Barrie man spends night in cells

Barrie police chased an irate man near Johnston's Beach as he fled through a bush area to Kempenfelt Drive early Thursday, arresting him for breaching the peace.

Officers were called to Mac's Convenience on Grove Street East at 3:40 a.m. after there was a physical confrontation between two men outside the store.

Police say one of the men had been removed from a Barrie bar by staff earlier in evening and there was also a complaint about a passenger who refused to pay his taxi fare.

A 22-year-old Barrie man was arrested and held in police cells until his behaviour improved.
