Used shell casings found in Cookstown

INNISFIL – Police have found shell casings after a recent report of gunshot sounds in the Cookstown area.

South Simcoe police were called to a neighbourhood early Saturday morning after the gunshot report but were unable to find anything.

But on Sunday a Cookstown resident found some used shell casings in the area. A police search of the area found more used shell casings.

Officers also noticed a second-floor window of a nearby home had been boarded up. Police spoke to the occupants, but said they were unco-operative.

On Monday police detectives used a search warrant at the home to collect unspecified evidence related to the incident.

Anyone with information about these events is asked to contact police at 905-775-3311 or 705-436-2141, ext. 1020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
