The Barrie Colts midget 'AAA' team will host a fundraising game to support the David Busby Street Centre.
The Colts will take on the Richmond Hill Coyotes on Monday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. at the Barrie Molson Centre.
Tickets are $2 each.
"Our team is dedicating ticket sales to raise funds to support the people experiencing poverty and homeless in the Barrie area," said Colts coach Dave Gillespie. "When the team was deciding on a recipient for the fundraiser game, it was pretty clear what they wanted to do."
Barrie MP Patrick Brown is also backing the game.
"I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful groups, associations and individuals we have here in our community who step up to the plate for the less fortunate," Brown said. "These young men are to be commended for their activism on behalf of our most vulnerable residents, especially at this time of year."
Catherine Johnson, resource development clerk at the Busby Centre, said her organization is "over the moon" to receive the midget team's support.
"It is always very exciting when the community comes together to help support our programming and services," she said.
Tickets will be available at the door on game night. They can also be purchased at Pro-Stars Sports Excellence, located at 56 Dunlop St. W., or by emailing Gillespie at email@example.com.
