Hannah Hill will soon be en route to Canada's true north.

The Barrie student is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Oct. 30, when she will be leaving for her five- day trade mission to Iqaluit, Nunavut.

She will be travelling with Junior Team Canada, a group run by Global Vision designed to bring Canadian youth together and give them hands-on business experience and prepare students for success in the global economy.

There will be students from Barrie and other areas accompanying Hannah.

"The purpose of this trip is to help students learn more about northern culture and to promote open dialogue between the north and the south" said Hannah.

There will never be a dull moment on this trade mission. The trip, which runs until Nov. 3, will be packed with activities for Hannah and the other youths. They will be visiting locals, learning about cultural practices and visiting a national park.

Not only will Hannah and the other youths benefit from this trip, but so will local communities. When the students come back from the north they will share their experiences with their local communities to help expand knowledge of the region.

Hannah became inspired to go on this trip after she heard about the opportunity from a co-worker who will also be attending.

"I became interested in doing this trip last March. I want to go into business and I thought this would be a good way to learn more about business etiquette. It is a really cool opportunity that all youth should experience" said Hannah.

Before being accepted into the Junior Team Canada trade mission Hannah had to go through an application process and answer questions about herself.

Hannah is a Grade 11 student currently attending Unity Christian High School. She has a strong interest in pursuing business as a career. In addition to learning more about other cultures, she hopes to get much more out of the trip.

"I want to gain leadership skills and learn more about being an ambassador for Canada" she said. "I think it's a great way to help represent Canada and Simcoe County".
