A man wanted for a weapons charge in Barrie was arrested by Halton Regional police and returned to the city Tuesday night.
City police were told at about 10 p.m. that Halton had a man in custody wanted on three outstanding arrest warrants.
He is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of weapons dangerous and failing to comply with his probation.
The man was held in Barrie police cells for a bail hearing.
A man faces two charges after his mother was assaulted and her Barrie home damaged, early Tuesday morning.
Barrie police received several calls about a family disturbance on Leacock Drive just before 1:20 a.m.
Officers found damage to the interior of a residence and a woman who had been assaulted.
Her 34-year-old son was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. He was taken to Barrie’s police station and later released with a March court date.
BOOZE FUELLED ARREST
Speed and booze didn’t mix well for a Barrie man, Monday night.
According to Barrie police, officers were patrolling Codrington Street when a vehicle was spotted speeding around 10 p.m.
Police stopped the vehicle and detected a strong smell of alcohol when they spoke to driver.
A 31-year-old man was taken to the city police station where he provided a breath test which registered twice the legal limit. His licence was suspended and he faces a future court date.
A WALK TO REMEMBER
A late-night walk ended in a jail cell for a Barrie man, Monday night.
According to Barrie police, a suspicious man was spotted walking in the parking lot of a housing complex at 549 Yonge St. around 11:30 p.m.
When police spoke to the man they learned he was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court.
A 36-year-old man was transported to the city police station and held pending a bail hearing.
Barrie police are looking for a car thief after a vehicle was stolen from a home in the city’s south end.
According to city police, a woman went to leave for work on Tuesday morning and found her Lincoln
LS wasn’t in the driveway where she had left it.
Police arrived and determined the vehicle was stolen sometime between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

SPEED AND WEED
Speeding on a city street and smoking marijuana wasn’t a good idea for a Barrie man, Tuesday morning.
According to Barrie police, an officer was patrolling Anne Street when a vehicle was spotted speeding around 5:30 p.m.
When police stopped the vehicle, officers smelled marijuana and searched of the vehicle turned up a small amount of the drug.
Police learned the 21-year-old man was on probation and under conditions to not to use drugs or alcohol.
He has been charged with breaching probation and released with a future court date.
