Barrie police Chief Mark Neelin has posted this video message to the public on the police's website.

The message comes in wake of two assault-related incidents involving police officers that are now in the public eye.

Const. Jason Nevill is currently on trial following an incident at the Bayfield Mall on Nov. 20, 2010.

And a second officer was charged with assault this week following a domestic incident.

A Barrie police officer was in bail court Wednesday after being charged in a domestic assault the day before.

According to city police, the alleged incident is domestic-related and occurred while the officer was off-duty.

The officer was arrested and made a brief appearance in bail court where the Crown attorney agreed to release him.

The officer’s identity is being withheld to protect the identity of the alleged victim.

The officer, a two-year member of the Barrie police department, was one of several Barrie officers who participated in the Movember fundraising event, a campaign aimed at supporting men living with prostate cancer.

The officer, who has been on the force for two years, will be in court today and has been reassigned to administrative duties.

He’ll be back in court Feb. 25.
