Person found dead in Collingwood home

COLLINGWOOD — The OPP has arrested a male suspect in connection to a murder at a Kohl Street home.
In a brief news release issued Thursday afternoon, police announced the arrest, but stated no names would be released pending the charges being sworn at court; the suspect is scheduled to make an bail court appearance Friday morning in Barrie.
The OPP is asking east end residents to keep an eye out for anything suspicious, after determining a body found in a Kohl Street home, Tuesday, was the result of murder.
Police are asking area residents to check their properties and garbage bins for anything out of the ordinary, or out of place.
The investigation is being handled under the direction of Detective Inspector Colleen McCormick of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Police have been reticent to release information, including details such as the victim's name, age and gender.
The Collingwood OPP detachment media relations officer, Const. Martin Hachey, indicated the investigation is ongoing, only the details in the media release were what would be released at this time.
Police and paramedics were called shorted to the home shortly after 4 p.m. on New Year's Day, after a person was found inside the house.
Police say further details will be released when they become available.
