HGS is looking at Barrie area
A Barrie job fair will be held early in the new year for positions at HGS Canada, a contact centre company, to evaluate the local employment market.
The Jan. 18-19 job fair is part of Hinduja Global Solution's site selection process; the company is looking at a potential 500-employee operation in the area. It would include front-line, business support and management-level positions.
“Getting people to come out to the job fair will be critical in showing that we have the required workforce to meet and support this potential new employer,” said Mayor Jeff Lehman.
“Our target is to have over 2,000 applicants submit resumes at this job fair over these two days,” said Hany Kirolos, Barrie's economic development director.
HGS has opened three Ontario sites during the last two years – in Belleville last summer, North Bay in early 2011 and Thunder Bay in 2010.
The company began the groundwork for further expansion in Ontario when its representatives held talks with officials in a number of potential locations earlier this year.
Kirolos said HGS is also looking for customer support agents, supervisors, trainers, recruiters, human resources and information technology personnel.
The Barrie job fair takes place Jan. 18-19 at SouthShore Centre, on Lakeshore Drive, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day.
