The current heads of both boards of education were acclaimed this week.

At the Simcoe County District School Board, Robert North, who represents Adjala-Tosorontio and Essa townships, was acclaimed as board chairperson. North is entering his second year as chairperson. He also has experience in the position of vice-chairperson and is serving his third term as a trustee.

Peter Beacock, trustee for Oro-Medonte and Springwater townships, was acclaimed as vice-chairperson. Beacock has served in this role twice previously and is serving his second term as trustee.

At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Claython Ferguson, who represents Adjala-Tosorontio/Adjala-Tosorontio - CFB, Essa/Essa - CFB and NewTecumseth, was acclaimed as chairperson for his third term. He is beginning his eighth year as a trustee and his third term as chairperson.

Maria Hardie, who represents wards 6-10 in Barrie, was acclaimed as vice-chairperson. She has been a trustee since November 2010 and this is her second term as vice-chairperson.
