It’s ‘Lotza Lanza and Za’more’ with two tenors and a pianist.

William Shookhoff plays the new Shigeru Kwai nine-foot concert grand. He is a noted conductor, pianist and vocal coach across Canada and internationally. He is also director of Toronto’s Opera by Request.

Shookhoff is equally at home in musical theatre and was the associate conductor Toronto productions of Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.

In addition, he has served on the music faculties of several universities as well as the Banff Centre for the Arts.

Lenard Whiting, a native of Kenora, has been singing professionally for the past three decades in Canada and internationally and has worked with many well-known opera companies.

He is professor of music at the University of Toronto and is organist and choir director at Trinity York Mills Presbyterian Church in Toronto. He is the conductor of several choirs including Ensemble TrypTych Chamber Choir, part of a production company he founded.

Whiting has performed with Edward Franko numerous times in the past, including this concert which is, in part, a musical celebration of legendary tenor Mario Lanza.

Seniors Serenade takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Central United Church, 54 Ross St., at 2:30 p.m. The concert is free. Refreshments follow for $5.
