Steaks and rum stolen


A man has been charged after city police say he stole steaks and rum in separate incidents over the weekend.

Officers responded to Metro grocery store on Friday after a man stolen several steaks. The following day, police were called to the Mary Street liquor store in downtown Barrie after a man stole two bottoles of rum.

Downtown officers arrested a suspect a short distance away.

The unopened booze was recovered and returned to the store.

The man was also linked to the steak theft.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, theft under under $5,000 and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
