Ambulance donated for use in Africa
Simcoe County has donated an ambulance to be used in Africa.
Paramedic officials say delivering timely, clinically sophisticated emergency response is critical.
The donation is a partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, past warden Dennis Roughley and Dr. Linda Douville of High Adventure Gospel Communication Ministries.
The ambulance will be used in Ongutoi, Uganda.
Douville says there is a desperate need for medical care in Amuria District, where the village is located. Thousands of people are returning home from displacement camps.
Their nearest medical facility is more than 40 kilometres away, but the donated ambulance will service a 160-kilometre radius.
An official presentation will be made on Tuesday.
