(QMI) -- Provincial police officers in the Napanee area are investigating the murder of a Clearview Township man.
Walkers discovered the body of Ronald Trebilcock, 48, on Oct. 16 at approximately 1:45 p.m. , according to Sgt. Christine Rae.
His remains were found in a field north of Highway 401 in Tyendinaga Township.
"I'm checking into it, but there doesn't seem to be any intersection or crossroads anywhere nearby," said Rae.
"It's still early in the investigation and everything is very preliminary," she added. "We don't yet know how or why he wound up here. We've just confirmed the identification and we know the cause of death but we're not releasing it."
Post-mortem results indicate that Trebilcock died from "foul play."
He was reported missing to the Huronia West OPP on Sept. 9 by friends and co-workers who had not seen or heard from him since Sept. 4.
The Napanee OPP Crime Unit with the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Det.-Insp. Dave MacDonald, continue to investigate.
Anyone with information about Trebilcock or his murder are asked to call the Napanee OPP at 613-354-3369, Huronia West OPP at 705-429-3575, or Crime Stoppers.
