Keanu's rep scoffs at baby claims
Allegations that Hollywood star Keanu Reeves had a fling with a Barrie woman and fathered four children are "absurd," his publicist said yesterday.
Karen Sala, 46, of Barrie, insists that the actor is the father of at least one of her children, who are aged 20 to 25.
She's asking for a court order to have Reeves take a DNA test, $150,000 per month in child support retroactive from June 1988 and an order for $3 million a month in spousal support retroactive from November 2006.
In a court document filed with the Superior Court of Justice in Barrie, Sala claims: "I believe the respondent, (Reeves) is the biological father ... The respondent was at the birth of the named children and will confirm that he knew of the children and the possibility that he fathered the children."
In an interview yesterday, Sala admitted she had other sexual relationships at the time she allegedly had sex with Reeves and is not sure if he is the father.
"All I want is the test and a yea or nay," she said. "The children would like to know for a fact whether or not he is their biological father. They could greatly benefit from him in their educational costs."
Reeves' Hollywood publicist has scoffed at Sala's claims.
"Karen Sala's allegations are completely false and absurd," said publicist Cheryl Maisel. "Mr. Reeves has no knowledge of who she is."
Sala says she has been unable to prove her allegations and has no lawyer representing her in the case.
"I can't afford a lawyer," she said.
She added she is exhausted from constant calls from various media since she let the papers know about her case.
"I need to regroup. I didn't expect all this," she said.
A court date was set for July 6 in Barrie where further paperwork must be filed for the case to continue.
